Educating for equal justice and reconciliation
Our Commonwealth is committed to educating young people to be future leaders in the struggle for equal justice and reconciliation. We believe truth comes before reconciliation. In this effort, we work with local teachers and school systems, volunteer researchers and historians to develop supplemental materials that enhance local civics education.
This enhanced reconciliation civics curriculum may include aspects of local history discussing slavery, segregation and other aspects of the Jim Crow system, and the enduring legacies of these institutionalized forms of oppression for local communities.
